1929-1936   Lived in Dunedin, New Zealand

1936-1941   Primary School

1942   Palmerston Boys High School

1958    First marriage

1975   first wife passed away

1961   Joined Moorfields Eye Hospital, England

1965    Joined University of NSW, associate professor of ophthalmology

1965–1992   Became chair of the ophthalmology division of University of New     South Wales, and

the Prince of Wales and Prince Henry hospitals.

1980   Second marriage with Gabi Hollows.

1989   He was diagnosed with cancer

1992   Travelled to Vietnam to support a hospital

1993   He passed away

1921- joined the British police in Burma

1927-he resigned


1928-journey to Paris

1932 to1933-worked as a teacher in a private school 

1934-part time job in a second-hand book shop


1933-first book published in Paris and London

1934-first novel Burmese Days were published

1935- A Clergyman's Daughter was published

1936-was followed Aspidistra flying

1936-Married Eileen.(she died in 1945)

1936-Commissioned to wright book poverty in northern 
England

1937- Published Road to wigan pier 

1938- published A Homage to Catalonia, 

1938-Tuberculosis

1938 to1939-Spent winter in morocco.

1939-Novel, Coming Up for Air published

1943-literary editor

1945-His great satire Animal farm published

1949-Masterpiece 1984 published

1949-Second marriage Sonia

1950- 21 January died he was only 49
